Polonca Lovšin at the Triennial of Contemporary Art – U3 in the Moderna galerija in Ljubljana
10th Triennial of Contemporary Art – U3 | Against the Stream of Time
21. 6. 2024—17. 11. 2024
Moderna galerija / Museum of Modern Art, Ljubljana
We are excited that Polonca Lovšin is participating at the Triennial of Contemporary Art – U3 in the Moderna galerija in Ljubljana with works that were produced as part of the Forest Encounters project.
Lovšin is exhibiting two works that examine the relationship between people and the forest. Spotlighting women foresters, hunters, and forest owners in Slovenia, The Forest in Women’s Hands (2023) examines our relationship to forests through the perspective of gender. Mushrooms at the End of the World (2023) is centred on fungi – organisms that connect all life on earth and possess incredible transformative power.
While Moderna galerija initially established the U3 Triennial of Contemporary Slovenian Art with the aim of providing an overview of selected artistic practices through the subjective view of a selected curator every three years, the past editions of the triennial have made it apparent that it also needs to become an active space that necessarily broaches current issues. Against the Stream of Time therefore brings together the curator’s subjective view of the recent art scene in Slovenia.
