The Forest Encounters Glossary is now available

The Forest Encounters Glossary is a collaborative bilingual (German–English) publication based on artistic strategies that explore the forest. This publication is the result of a collaborative effort that brings together diverse networks, multidisciplinary thinking, and democratic forms of knowledge production.

The glossary project, coordinated by Nayarí Castillo, was launched in June 2024 during the Forest Encounters Workshop in Graz. Castillo, in collaboration with artists and co-editors Dušica Dražić and Polonca Lovšin, developed a specific collection strategy and guidelines for contributions to the Forest Encounters Glossary. Since then, Castillo has been gathering entries from various sources, including visitors to the exhibition Wild Spots at the <rotor> Centre for Contemporary Art in Graz and participants in a series of writing workshops about the glossary. More than two hundred contributors – part of the circle of authors – have shared stories about their encounters with the forest.
The glossary, beautifully illustrated by Candelaria Argarate, serves as an open space for questions and imaginations surrounding the forest and forest encounters.
We invite you to read the Forest Encounters Glossary.
